About the model
Brühl Roro Soft – softly upholstered convertible sofa
The Roro was designed by Roland Meyer-Brühl, and Brühl has been building it since 1998. All Roro models share the same principle: the seats swivel through 90 degrees and swing into a lounging or lying position. The armrests and backrests are infinitely adjustable. The soft version features opulent, full upholstery on a slender-looking base. Brühl describes its seating comfort as soft and enveloping. There is also the classic version with firmer upholstery and the spring version with a pocket spring core.
Roro Soft three-seater in black leather
Three seats, black leather and a sleep function: this Roro Soft is a three-seater made up of two pieces. With the black cover, the full upholstery of the soft version looks calm and cohesive. Chrome, glass and dark wood go well with it. During the day, three people can sit here, and in the evening the sofa can become a place for guests to sleep. A one-of-a-kind piece for living rooms with a long wall.
Seating comfort and space
According to specialist retailers, the soft version has a polyurethane foam core on sinuous springs, with the full upholstery on top. So you sit rather softly. The seat height of 42 cm is standard. At 2.7 m wide and 90 cm deep, the three-seater needs a long wall. For the lying position, just over a metre of depth is added. In any case, around 60 to 80 cm of walking space should be left clear in front of it.
Functions and additions
This three-seater has a sleep function. On the Roro, the lying position is created by the swivel seats: you swivel the seat through 90 degrees by hand and swing it forward. You then set the armrests and backrests to the position that suits you. Lowered armrests are an extension of the lying surface, not a seat. In the soft version, the range also includes footstools, longchairs and multifunctional armchairs.
Caring for the leather cover
Wipe the black leather regularly with a soft, dry cloth, as dust shows up quickly on it. Once or twice a year, care for it with a suitable product, testing it on a hidden spot first. Dab stains rather than rubbing them. Keeping it away from radiators and strong sunlight protects it from drying out. The Roro’s covers are removable.
Why buy a pre-owned Brühl Roro Soft?
Brühl is a family business and has been manufacturing in Bad Steben since 1948, with a high proportion of handwork. It equips its convertible models with specially developed fittings that can be replaced if necessary. For a pre-owned Roro Soft, this means the mechanism, upholstery and covers can be renewed, while the frame stays. This piece has been inspected in eight stations.
Frequently asked questions
Can occasional tables be added to the Roro later?
Yes. Brühl offers decorative occasional tables for the Roro, which can also be fitted at a later date. With the multifunctional armchairs, a table module can connect two armchairs; this module can also be ordered later.
What should you do about a stain on the Roro’s leather cover?
Act quickly: dab up liquid with an absorbent, light-coloured cloth without rubbing. Then go over it with a slightly damp cloth and let the leather air-dry, never with a hairdryer or on a radiator. For stubborn stains, a specialist leather care company can help.
Can you change the Roro’s cover, for example from leather to fabric?
Yes. You can order replacement covers through specialist retailers or Brühl’s customer service, and for models with removable covers also in a different material. Where a cover consists of several parts, individual parts can be replaced as long as the fabric or leather is still available.
Which elements belong to the Roro range?
According to the dimension sheet, there are multifunctional armchairs, two-seaters with one or two swivel seats, intermediate elements, a corner element, corner sofa elements, longchairs, recliners and a footstool. These make up sofas and corner arrangements in many variations. Occasional tables and table modules complete the range.
Can the cushions or upholstery of the Roro be replaced?
Yes. According to Brühl, loose seat cushions and similar parts can be ordered individually. Cushion fillings are available as spare parts, and the upholstery of every Brühl model can be replaced while the frame stays.
Is the Roro available with castors?
Yes. For all Roro models, Brühl offers a base with two castors at the back, or alternatively a height-adjustable base. If needed, castors and glides are also available as spare parts through specialist retailers or directly from Brühl.
Can I see the piece before buying?
Yes – the piece is at Warehouse Hamburg. Viewing by appointment, or alternatively by video call.
The family firm Brühl has made upholstered furniture in Bad Steben, Upper Franconia, since 1948. Many of its sofas adjust or transform, and numerous designs are by Roland Meyer-Brühl: on the Roro (since 1998) the arms and back adjust continuously, while on the Moule (since 2003) two swivel seats convert into loungers or a sleeping surface in a few movements. Frames are made from solid beech, and each complete cover is sewn by one person. Kati Meyer-Brühl has been creative director since 2008.
