Brühl Fourtwo – red corner unit with swivel sofa

Play area, lounging area, bed and sofa in one: that is how Brühl describes the Fourtwo by Roland Meyer-Brühl. By day, you sit in the compact corner, and in the evening you stretch out on the longchair. If guests stay over, it turns into a double bed in a few easy steps. Under the swivel sofa's lift-up armrest there is a table surface with room for a book, a glass or the remote control. When needed, you can pull the longchair's side arm forward as an extra backrest. The swivel sofa can be placed to the right or left of the longchair.

This Fourtwo is a corner sofa with a red fabric cover. Seen from the front, the longchair forms the corner on the right, with the swivel sofa to its left. There is room for four people. The strong red adds a distinct splash of colour, especially against light walls or next to grey and light wood. The corner sofa suits families and living rooms with a free corner. The removable covers make cleaning easier.

Seating comfort and space

How soft the Fourtwo feels depends on the version: the soft version is soft and relaxed, the compact version pleasantly firmer. Underneath, according to specialist retailers, there is a polyurethane foam core on sinuous springs. The seat height of 43 cm is standard. The corner sofa needs around 2.6 m along one wall and 1.85 m along the other. As a bed, the depth increases to up to 210 cm according to the dimension sheet, so plan for some walking space in front of it.

Functions and additions

For the night, turn the swivel sofa parallel to the longchair to create a double bed. This is done by hand, without any motor. Each version has a matching set of cushions, which on the compact version can also be covered in a contrasting fabric, according to Brühl. Optional extras include headrests, two table modules and, according to the dimension sheet, a footstool.

Caring for the fabric cover

Because the Fourtwo's covers are removable, Brühl says that even families with small children can choose light fabrics. The cover is released at the hook-and-loop strips along the bottom edge. Washable fabrics can take a gentle cycle at up to 30 °C, and the rest are dry-cleaned. For everyday care, vacuuming with the upholstery nozzle is enough, and stains can be dabbed off with a damp cloth.

Why buy a pre-owned Brühl Fourtwo?

Brühl introduced the Fourtwo in 2009, and since 2021 there has also been a softer version called soft. What counts for a pre-owned piece is that Brühl replaces parts: the manufacturer offers replacements for feet, castors, glides and cushion fillings. Brühl replaces worn mechanical fittings, and the covers are removable and replaceable. This piece has been inspected in eight stations.
