About the model
Brühl Roro Soft Medium – swivel seats with opulent upholstery
Roro Soft Medium combines the larger of the two Roro sizes with the softly padded soft version. The Roro was designed by Roland Meyer-Brühl, and Brühl has been building it since 1998. Typical of the soft version is the contrast between opulent, full upholstery and a slender base. Brühl calls the upholstery soft, cosy and comfortable, and the design language timeless and clear. According to the manufacturer, the two seats easily turn into relaxing loungers. The covers are removable, and the base is height-adjustable or, on request, has two castors.
Roro Soft Medium two-seater in black leather – floor model
Black leather and the full upholstery of the soft version define this two-seater. It was a floor model, was only on display and was never used in a home. Together, the cover and upholstery look calm and cohesive. Chrome, glass and dark wood complement the black well. The Roro Soft Medium suits living rooms, reading rooms or a study. A one-of-a-kind piece for two people.
Seating comfort and space
At 192 cm wide, this two-seater corresponds to the Roro Medium soft in the dimension sheet. According to specialist retailers, a polyurethane foam core rests on sinuous springs, and the seat depth is 57 cm. The seat height of 45 cm is at the upper end of the usual range. The sofa needs just over 1.9 m of wall space and 90 cm of depth. Lowered armrests make it 46 cm wider, and as a lounger it extends two metres into the room.
Functions and additions
Both swivel seats can be adjusted separately: swivel them through 90 degrees by hand and swing them into the lounging or lying position. You adjust the backrests and armrests to any position. For the two-seater in this width, specialist retailers quote a lying surface of 133 × 200 cm. The range includes multifunctional armchairs, a longchair, a footstool and occasional tables that can be fitted later.
Caring for the leather cover
Remove dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth, as it shows up quickly on black. Carefully dab stains without rubbing. Once or twice a year, the leather needs a suitable care product. Keep it away from radiators and strong sunlight so that it does not dry out. The leather cover can also be removed and renewed.
Why a Brühl Roro Soft Medium floor model?
As a floor model, this Roro Soft Medium has never experienced everyday life in a home. Brühl is a family business and has been manufacturing in its own workshop in Bad Steben since 1948. There, each complete cover is sewn by a single person. Replacement covers are available through specialist retailers, including in fabric instead of leather. This piece has been inspected in eight stations.
Frequently asked questions
Can the cushions or upholstery of the Roro be replaced?
Yes. According to Brühl, loose seat cushions and similar parts can be ordered individually. Cushion fillings are available as spare parts, and the upholstery of every Brühl model can be replaced while the frame stays.
What should you do about a stain on the Roro’s leather cover?
Act quickly: dab up liquid with an absorbent, light-coloured cloth without rubbing. Then go over it with a slightly damp cloth and let the leather air-dry, never with a hairdryer or on a radiator. For stubborn stains, a specialist leather care company can help.
Can you sit on the Roro’s lowered armrests?
It is better not to. Brühl sees folded-out armrests as an extension of the lying surface or as a footrest, not as a seat. Anyone who regularly puts their full body weight on them risks damaging the mechanism.
Which upholstery versions are available for the Roro?
Brühl makes the Roro in the classic, spring and soft versions. The classic version offers firmer seating comfort and a smooth, slim contour. The spring version has an integrated pocket spring core and an elastic, springy feel, while the soft version has softer upholstery and looks opulent thanks to its full padding.
What can you do if a fitting on the Roro weakens?
Brühl can replace mechanical fittings that have weakened, and the company has over 30 years of experience with them. After that, the conversion works as usual again. The upholstery can also be renewed, while the frame is kept.
What is the difference between the Roro Medium and the Roro Small?
The Roro Medium is the larger version, while the Roro Small is the compact one for rooms with little floor space. According to Brühl, the Small takes up very little room yet still converts into a bed in no time. Both sizes are available in the classic, spring and soft versions.
Can I see the piece before buying?
Yes – the piece is at Warehouse Hamburg. Viewing by appointment, or alternatively by video call.
The family firm Brühl has made upholstered furniture in Bad Steben, Upper Franconia, since 1948. Many of its sofas adjust or transform, and numerous designs are by Roland Meyer-Brühl: on the Roro (since 1998) the arms and back adjust continuously, while on the Moule (since 2003) two swivel seats convert into loungers or a sleeping surface in a few movements. Frames are made from solid beech, and each complete cover is sewn by one person. Kati Meyer-Brühl has been creative director since 2008.
