About the model
Brühl Roro Soft Medium – sofa, lounger and daybed
Swivel seats and infinitely adjustable armrests and backrests that go all the way to a lying position: this has been the principle of the Roro since 1998. It was designed by Roland Meyer-Brühl. Brühl builds it in the Medium and Small sizes, each in the classic, spring or soft version. The classic version sits more firmly, spring gives elastic support with its pocket spring core, and soft wraps you in full, soft upholstery. Brühl calls the Roro a milestone of modern, purist design. The bases are height-adjustable or, on request, fitted with two castors.
Roro Soft Medium two-seater in green fabric
This Roro Soft Medium, a two-seater, is covered in green fabric. The colour brings freshness to the room and goes well with wood, white and natural tones. The full, soft upholstery of the soft version offers comfortable space for two people. It is well suited to living rooms, reading rooms or a guest room with little floor space, and becomes a lounger in the evening when needed. It is one of a kind.
Seating comfort and space
According to the dimension sheet, its width of 192 cm corresponds to the medium soft two-seater. You sit softly and feel enveloped, on a polyurethane foam core over sinuous springs, according to specialist retailers. They give the seat depth as 57 cm, and the seat height is 45 cm. Allow just over 1.9 m of wall space and 90 cm of depth, and up to two metres for the lying position. In front of it, 60 to 80 cm of walking space is comfortable.
Functions and additions
Both seats swivel through 90 degrees by hand and swing forward, and you adjust the armrests and backrests to any position. According to Brühl, this easily turns the seats into loungers. Lowered armrests make the sofa 46 cm wider but are not a seat. From the same range, a multifunctional armchair, a footstool or occasional tables go well with it.
Caring for the fabric cover
Green fabrics can fade over time in strong sunlight, so a spot out of direct sunlight protects the colour. Vacuum the cover regularly and dab stains with a light-coloured, damp cloth without rubbing. The cover is removable. Depending on the fabric, it is dry-cleaned or washed on a gentle cycle at up to 30 °C.
Why buy a pre-owned Brühl Roro Soft Medium?
A pre-owned Roro Soft Medium is worthwhile because Brühl designs it for long use. The covers are removable and renewable, and the fittings and upholstery can be replaced. The family business has been manufacturing in Bad Steben since 1948 and tests every conversion mechanism at final inspection. The Roro itself has existed since 1998. This piece has been inspected in eight stations.
Frequently asked questions
How do you remove the cover of the Roro?
Undo the hook-and-loop strips along the lower edges and fold the hem outwards. Cover the hooks of the tape with loop tape so that they do not damage anything. Then pull the cover off starting from one corner, and later put it back on in reverse order.
How large a lying surface does the Roro offer as a two-seater?
For the two-seat Roro Medium, Brühl quotes a lying surface of 133 × 200 cm, and for the compact Roro Small 130 × 189 cm. To get this, you bring both swivel seats into the lying position. A single multifunctional armchair makes a narrow lounger of 64 × 200 cm (Medium) or 65 × 189 cm (Small).
Can you change the Roro’s cover, for example from leather to fabric?
Yes. You can order replacement covers through specialist retailers or Brühl’s customer service, and for models with removable covers also in a different material. Where a cover consists of several parts, individual parts can be replaced as long as the fabric or leather is still available.
What is the difference between the Roro Medium and the Roro Small?
The Roro Medium is the larger version, while the Roro Small is the compact one for rooms with little floor space. According to Brühl, the Small takes up very little room yet still converts into a bed in no time. Both sizes are available in the classic, spring and soft versions.
Can occasional tables be added to the Roro later?
Yes. Brühl offers decorative occasional tables for the Roro, which can also be fitted at a later date. With the multifunctional armchairs, a table module can connect two armchairs; this module can also be ordered later.
Can the cushions or upholstery of the Roro be replaced?
Yes. According to Brühl, loose seat cushions and similar parts can be ordered individually. Cushion fillings are available as spare parts, and the upholstery of every Brühl model can be replaced while the frame stays.
Can I see the piece before buying?
Yes – the piece is at Warehouse Hamburg. Viewing by appointment, or alternatively by video call.
The family firm Brühl has made upholstered furniture in Bad Steben, Upper Franconia, since 1948. Many of its sofas adjust or transform, and numerous designs are by Roland Meyer-Brühl: on the Roro (since 1998) the arms and back adjust continuously, while on the Moule (since 2003) two swivel seats convert into loungers or a sleeping surface in a few movements. Frames are made from solid beech, and each complete cover is sewn by one person. Kati Meyer-Brühl has been creative director since 2008.
