About the model

Brühl Roro Medium – corner sofa with adjustable backrests

Brühl calls the Roro a milestone of modern, purist design. It was designed by Roland Meyer-Brühl and has been built since 1998. As a corner sofa, it is made up of elements that can be combined in many ways. According to Brühl, the arrangement can be ordered with the longchair on the right or left. On all Roro corner sofas, the backrests are infinitely adjustable at every seat, and the outer seats of the sofa elements are swivel seats. A footstool can complete the corner.

Roro Medium corner sofa in red fabric

Covered in red fabric and with room for four people: this Roro corner sofa in the Medium size has its corner on the left, seen from the front. The strong colour gives the straight-lined form presence and goes well with grey, white and dark wood. The corner sofa is made for families and for living rooms where several people often sit together. A one-of-a-kind piece that defines a room.

Seating comfort and space

Whether classic, spring or soft: on the Roro, the version determines how firmly you sit. At 43 cm, the seat height of this corner sofa is standard. It needs around 2.6 m along the long wall and just under 2.3 m on the corner side. Allow 60 to 80 cm of walking space around the corner. If you use the swivel seats for lying down, you will need additional free space in front of them.

Functions and additions

On the corner sofa, you can adjust each backrest individually to any position. On the Roro, the outer seats of the sofa elements are swivel seats: swivel them through 90 degrees by hand and swing them into the lounging or lying position. Lowered armrests serve as a footrest, not as a seat. Replacement covers, including in a new colour, are available through specialist retailers.

Caring for the fabric cover

A bold red can fade in strong sunlight, so do not place the corner sofa permanently by the window. Vacuum the fabric regularly with the upholstery nozzle. Dab stains immediately with a light-coloured, damp cloth without rubbing. The cover is removable and attached with hook-and-loop tape; it is dry-cleaned or, if washable, washed on a gentle cycle at up to 30 °C.

Why buy a pre-owned Brühl Roro Medium?

With a corner sofa, it is worth taking a look at the engineering. Brühl has tested and improved the Roro’s conversion mechanisms over the years and checks them before they leave the workshop. If a fitting weakens, it is replaced; the upholstery and covers can be renewed. Manufacturing has taken place in Bad Steben since 1948. This piece has been inspected in eight stations.

Frequently asked questions

Which elements belong to the Roro range?

According to the dimension sheet, there are multifunctional armchairs, two-seaters with one or two swivel seats, intermediate elements, a corner element, corner sofa elements, longchairs, recliners and a footstool. These make up sofas and corner arrangements in many variations. Occasional tables and table modules complete the range.

What is the difference between the Roro longchair and the recliner?

The longchair has a continuous seat and, if desired, a movable side rest. The recliner has an adjustable seat and lying surface, allowing it to take on a curved S-shape; an armrest is optional. Both can be combined with an add-on sofa to form a corner.

What is the footstool in the Roro range for?

The footstool complements a sofa, armchair or corner arrangement as a footrest or an extra seat. According to the dimension sheet, it measures 75 × 75 cm for the Roro Medium and 65 × 65 cm for the Roro Small. Brühl offers it in the classic, spring and soft versions.

How do you remove the cover of the Roro?

Undo the hook-and-loop strips along the lower edges and fold the hem outwards. Cover the hooks of the tape with loop tape so that they do not damage anything. Then pull the cover off starting from one corner, and later put it back on in reverse order.

Is the Roro available with castors?

Yes. For all Roro models, Brühl offers a base with two castors at the back, or alternatively a height-adjustable base. If needed, castors and glides are also available as spare parts through specialist retailers or directly from Brühl.

Can the cushions or upholstery of the Roro be replaced?

Yes. According to Brühl, loose seat cushions and similar parts can be ordered individually. Cushion fillings are available as spare parts, and the upholstery of every Brühl model can be replaced while the frame stays.

Can I see the sofa before buying?

Yes – the sofa is at Warehouse Hamburg. Viewing by appointment, or alternatively by video call.

About the brand

All Brühl in stock

The family firm Brühl has made upholstered furniture in Bad Steben, Upper Franconia, since 1948. Many of its sofas adjust or transform, and numerous designs are by Roland Meyer-Brühl: on the Roro (since 1998) the arms and back adjust continuously, while on the Moule (since 2003) two swivel seats convert into loungers or a sleeping surface in a few movements. Frames are made from solid beech, and each complete cover is sewn by one person. Kati Meyer-Brühl has been creative director since 2008.
