About the model
Brühl Roro Medium – corner sofa with swivel seats
Brühl has been building the Roro since 1998 to a design by Roland Meyer-Brühl and calls it a milestone of modern, purist design. A Roro corner sofa is put together from elements: a longchair, a recliner or a corner sofa element, combined with an add-on sofa. The backrests are infinitely adjustable at every seat. The outer seats of the sofa elements are swivel seats that swing forward all the way into the lying position. Brühl describes the design language as timelessly contemporary. Optional castors make it easier to move.
Roro Medium corner sofa in beige fabric
This Roro corner sofa in the Medium size is covered in beige fabric and has a sleep function. Seen from the front, the corner is on the left. Two pieces form the corner, with room for three people. The pale beige keeps the large form looking airy and goes well with wooden floors and light-coloured walls. The sofa is well suited to living rooms that double as guest rooms in the evening. Cushions in green or terracotta add accents.
Seating comfort and space
On the Roro, how firmly you sit depends on the version: classic is firmer, spring has more bounce, and soft is soft and enveloping. At 42 cm, the seat height of this piece is within the usual range. The corner sofa needs around 2.6 m along the long wall and just under 1.9 m on the corner side. For the lying position, extra space should be left free in front of the swivel seats. Around the corner, 60 to 80 cm of walking space makes sense.
Functions and additions
This corner sofa has a sleep function. On the Roro, it works via the swivel seats: you swivel a seat through 90 degrees by hand and swing it forward into the lying position. You can adjust the backrest at every seat to any position. The range also includes footstools, multifunctional armchairs and occasional tables that can be fitted later.
Caring for the fabric cover
Light beige shows stains more quickly than dark tones, so act straight away: dab with a light-coloured, damp cloth without rubbing. Dark, freshly dyed clothing such as jeans can transfer colour onto light fabric. Vacuum the cover regularly. It is removable and, depending on the fabric, is dry-cleaned or washed on a gentle cycle at up to 30 °C.
Why buy a pre-owned Brühl Roro Medium?
A corner sofa is a bigger purchase, so its lifespan matters all the more. On the Roro, the covers are removable and renewable, Brühl replaces fittings that weaken, and the upholstery can be replaced. Brühl has been manufacturing in Bad Steben since 1948 and has been building the Roro since 1998. This piece has been inspected in eight stations.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the Roro longchair and the recliner?
The longchair has a continuous seat and, if desired, a movable side rest. The recliner has an adjustable seat and lying surface, allowing it to take on a curved S-shape; an armrest is optional. Both can be combined with an add-on sofa to form a corner.
Is the Roro corner sofa available for either side?
Yes. According to Brühl, the arrangement can be ordered with the longchair on the right or left, and the sofa accordingly with the swivel seat on the right or left. The dimension sheet also provides for the combinations with a recliner or a corner sofa element in both directions.
Can the cushions or upholstery of the Roro be replaced?
Yes. According to Brühl, loose seat cushions and similar parts can be ordered individually. Cushion fillings are available as spare parts, and the upholstery of every Brühl model can be replaced while the frame stays.
How do you remove the cover of the Roro?
Undo the hook-and-loop strips along the lower edges and fold the hem outwards. Cover the hooks of the tape with loop tape so that they do not damage anything. Then pull the cover off starting from one corner, and later put it back on in reverse order.
Can you sit on the Roro’s lowered armrests?
It is better not to. Brühl sees folded-out armrests as an extension of the lying surface or as a footrest, not as a seat. Anyone who regularly puts their full body weight on them risks damaging the mechanism.
Can a Roro be reupholstered?
Yes. On the Roro, you can fit a replacement cover yourself, or alternatively Brühl will reupholster the piece in its workshop. According to Brühl, covers made of several parts even allow colours and materials to be mixed.
Can I see the sofa before buying?
Yes – the sofa is at Warehouse Hamburg. Viewing by appointment, or alternatively by video call.
The family firm Brühl has made upholstered furniture in Bad Steben, Upper Franconia, since 1948. Many of its sofas adjust or transform, and numerous designs are by Roland Meyer-Brühl: on the Roro (since 1998) the arms and back adjust continuously, while on the Moule (since 2003) two swivel seats convert into loungers or a sleeping surface in a few movements. Frames are made from solid beech, and each complete cover is sewn by one person. Kati Meyer-Brühl has been creative director since 2008.
