About the model

Brühl Roro Medium – from sofa to lounger

At Brühl, Roro has stood for one principle since 1998: seats that swivel through 90 degrees and armrests and backrests that are infinitely adjustable. It was designed by Roland Meyer-Brühl. From the basic position, you can bring each seat into a lounging or lying position. The Roro is made in the Medium and Small sizes, each in the classic, spring or soft version. Brühl makes it with a high proportion of handwork. The covers are removable and the base is height-adjustable.

Roro Medium two-seater in brown leather – floor model

This two-seater in the Medium size has a cover of Taron leather in brown. It was a floor model, so it was only on display and was never used in a home. Over time, the warm brown develops its own patina. The two-seater suits living rooms and reading rooms that call for a slim sofa which can become a lounger when needed. A one-of-a-kind piece for both clean-lined and homely rooms.

Seating comfort and space

In the dimension sheet, the width of 184 cm points to the classic version, which Brühl upholsters more firmly than spring and soft. The seat height of 42 cm is standard. The sofa takes up just over 1.8 m along the wall and 90 cm in depth. If you often use it as a lounger, plan for up to two metres of depth. Lowered armrests make it 50 cm wider. In front of it, 60 to 80 cm of walking space is comfortable.

Functions and additions

To lie down, you swivel a seat through 90 degrees and swing it forward, then set the armrests and backrests to any position. According to Brühl, the conversion is comfortable and easy. Castors at the back of the base are available for all Roro models, and castors and glides are also available as spare parts. In the range you will also find a longchair, a recliner, a multifunctional armchair and a footstool.

Caring for the leather cover

Leather likes steady conditions: no strong sunlight and no spot right next to the radiator. Remove dust with a soft cloth and carefully dab away stains. Once or twice a year, treat the leather with a suitable care product. Test new products on a hidden spot first. On the Roro, the leather cover is removable too.

Why a Brühl Roro Medium floor model?

As a floor model, this Roro Medium has never been used in a home. It comes from the Brühl workshop in Bad Steben, where the family business has been manufacturing since 1948. There, each complete cover is sewn by a single person, and every conversion mechanism is tested before it leaves the workshop. This piece has been inspected in eight stations.

Frequently asked questions

How large a lying surface does the Roro offer as a two-seater?

For the two-seat Roro Medium, Brühl quotes a lying surface of 133 × 200 cm, and for the compact Roro Small 130 × 189 cm. To get this, you bring both swivel seats into the lying position. A single multifunctional armchair makes a narrow lounger of 64 × 200 cm (Medium) or 65 × 189 cm (Small).

What should you do about a stain on the Roro’s leather cover?

Act quickly: dab up liquid with an absorbent, light-coloured cloth without rubbing. Then go over it with a slightly damp cloth and let the leather air-dry, never with a hairdryer or on a radiator. For stubborn stains, a specialist leather care company can help.

Can you change the Roro’s cover, for example from leather to fabric?

Yes. You can order replacement covers through specialist retailers or Brühl’s customer service, and for models with removable covers also in a different material. Where a cover consists of several parts, individual parts can be replaced as long as the fabric or leather is still available.

Can occasional tables be added to the Roro later?

Yes. Brühl offers decorative occasional tables for the Roro, which can also be fitted at a later date. With the multifunctional armchairs, a table module can connect two armchairs; this module can also be ordered later.

Can you sit on the Roro’s lowered armrests?

It is better not to. Brühl sees folded-out armrests as an extension of the lying surface or as a footrest, not as a seat. Anyone who regularly puts their full body weight on them risks damaging the mechanism.

What can you do if a fitting on the Roro weakens?

Brühl can replace mechanical fittings that have weakened, and the company has over 30 years of experience with them. After that, the conversion works as usual again. The upholstery can also be renewed, while the frame is kept.

Can I see the piece before buying?

Yes – the piece is at Warehouse Hamburg. Viewing by appointment, or alternatively by video call.

About the brand

All Brühl in stock

The family firm Brühl has made upholstered furniture in Bad Steben, Upper Franconia, since 1948. Many of its sofas adjust or transform, and numerous designs are by Roland Meyer-Brühl: on the Roro (since 1998) the arms and back adjust continuously, while on the Moule (since 2003) two swivel seats convert into loungers or a sleeping surface in a few movements. Frames are made from solid beech, and each complete cover is sewn by one person. Kati Meyer-Brühl has been creative director since 2008.
