About the model
Brühl Roro Medium – sofa with swivel seats
The Roro has been part of Brühl’s range since 1998 and was designed by Roland Meyer-Brühl. Brühl calls it a milestone of modern, purist design. According to the manufacturer, the conversion fittings run as precisely and smoothly as clockwork. Each seat swivels through 90 degrees and can be swung forward all the way into the lying position. You can set the armrests and backrests to any position you like. The upholstery rests on a delicate base that is height-adjustable or, on request, has two castors at the back.
Roro Medium two-seater in grey leather
This Roro Medium is a two-seater in grey leather. With its sober tone, it goes well with steel, glass and wood, and cushions in cognac or mustard add warmth. Over time, the leather develops its own patina. It is well suited to a living room, a study or a guest room where the sofa becomes a lounger in the evening. A one-of-a-kind piece for two people, simple and versatile.
Seating comfort and space
At 184 cm wide, this Roro corresponds to the classic two-seater in Brühl’s dimension sheet. The classic version is the one with firmer seating comfort. The seat height of 43 cm is standard. The sofa needs just over 1.8 m of wall space and 90 cm of depth. For the lying position, plan for up to two metres of depth, and for lowered armrests 50 cm more width. In front of it, 60 to 80 cm of walking space is comfortable.
Functions and additions
The two-seater converts in just a few simple steps: swivel the seats, swing them forward, adjust the armrests and backrests. No motor is needed for this. Together, the two seats form a lying surface of 133 × 200 cm, and with the armrests lowered, you get a daybed. Occasional tables can be added later. Brühl has tested and improved the fittings for this over many years.
Caring for the leather cover
For everyday care of grey leather, a soft, dry cloth to remove dust is enough. Carefully dab away stains without rubbing. Once or twice a year, care for the leather with a suitable product, testing it on a hidden spot first. Avoid direct sunlight and spots close to radiators. The cover is removable.
Why buy a pre-owned Brühl Roro Medium?
Brühl has been making seating furniture since 1948 and still manufactures in its own workshop in Bad Steben today. Brühl describes the Roro as durable and reliable. For a pre-owned Roro Medium, this means the mechanism is built to last, and fittings that weaken can be replaced. This piece has been inspected in eight stations.
Frequently asked questions
Which elements belong to the Roro range?
According to the dimension sheet, there are multifunctional armchairs, two-seaters with one or two swivel seats, intermediate elements, a corner element, corner sofa elements, longchairs, recliners and a footstool. These make up sofas and corner arrangements in many variations. Occasional tables and table modules complete the range.
What should you do about a stain on the Roro’s leather cover?
Act quickly: dab up liquid with an absorbent, light-coloured cloth without rubbing. Then go over it with a slightly damp cloth and let the leather air-dry, never with a hairdryer or on a radiator. For stubborn stains, a specialist leather care company can help.
What is the footstool in the Roro range for?
The footstool complements a sofa, armchair or corner arrangement as a footrest or an extra seat. According to the dimension sheet, it measures 75 × 75 cm for the Roro Medium and 65 × 65 cm for the Roro Small. Brühl offers it in the classic, spring and soft versions.
Can you change the Roro’s cover, for example from leather to fabric?
Yes. You can order replacement covers through specialist retailers or Brühl’s customer service, and for models with removable covers also in a different material. Where a cover consists of several parts, individual parts can be replaced as long as the fabric or leather is still available.
Can you sit on the Roro’s lowered armrests?
It is better not to. Brühl sees folded-out armrests as an extension of the lying surface or as a footrest, not as a seat. Anyone who regularly puts their full body weight on them risks damaging the mechanism.
Which upholstery versions are available for the Roro?
Brühl makes the Roro in the classic, spring and soft versions. The classic version offers firmer seating comfort and a smooth, slim contour. The spring version has an integrated pocket spring core and an elastic, springy feel, while the soft version has softer upholstery and looks opulent thanks to its full padding.
Can I see the piece before buying?
Yes – the piece is at Warehouse Hamburg. Viewing by appointment, or alternatively by video call.
The family firm Brühl has made upholstered furniture in Bad Steben, Upper Franconia, since 1948. Many of its sofas adjust or transform, and numerous designs are by Roland Meyer-Brühl: on the Roro (since 1998) the arms and back adjust continuously, while on the Moule (since 2003) two swivel seats convert into loungers or a sleeping surface in a few movements. Frames are made from solid beech, and each complete cover is sewn by one person. Kati Meyer-Brühl has been creative director since 2008.
