About the model
Brühl Roro Small – compact and convertible
Roro Small is the compact size of the Roro, which Roland Meyer-Brühl designed and Brühl has been building since 1998. Brühl describes it as small with a big impact: a two-seat sofa converts into a bed in no time. Behind this is the same principle as on the larger Roro Medium: seats that swivel through 90 degrees and infinitely adjustable armrests and backrests. Roro Small is also available in the classic, spring and soft versions. The covers are removable and renewable.
Roro Small two-seater in brown leather
This two-seater belongs to the compact Roro Small size and is covered in brown leather. Brühl designed the Roro Small for rooms with little floor space. The warm leather tone develops its own patina over the years, and cushions in cream add a light contrast. The two-seater suits small living rooms, studies or a guest room where it becomes a bed at night. It is one of a kind.
Seating comfort and space
With the Roro Small, the seating comfort depends on the version: classic is firmer, spring has more bounce, and soft is softer. The width does not reveal which version this piece is, as according to the dimension sheet all three Small two-seaters are 164 cm wide. The seat height of 42 cm is standard. The sofa needs 1.64 m of wall space and 85 cm of depth. Lowered armrests make it 50 cm wider, and in the lying position it extends almost two metres into the room. In front of it, 60 to 80 cm of walking space makes sense.
Functions and additions
Both seats swivel through 90 degrees and swing forward, creating a lying surface of 130 × 189 cm, according to Brühl. You adjust the armrests and backrests to any position, all by hand and without a motor. Two castors at the back of the base are available for the Roro Small on request. The range also includes multifunctional armchairs, longchairs, recliners and a footstool.
Caring for the leather cover
Remove dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Once or twice a year, give the leather a suitable care product to keep it supple. Carefully dab away stains; harsh cleaners are off limits. Do not place the Roro Small directly next to the radiator or in strong sunlight. The leather cover is also removable and renewable.
Why buy a pre-owned Brühl Roro Small?
Brühl is a family business and has been making seating furniture in Bad Steben since 1948, with a high proportion of handwork. Each complete cover is sewn there by a single person. What speaks for a pre-owned Roro Small is that the fittings can be replaced and the covers renewed. Brühl counts the Roro among its timeless classics. This piece has been inspected in eight stations.
Frequently asked questions
Can occasional tables be added to the Roro later?
Yes. Brühl offers decorative occasional tables for the Roro, which can also be fitted at a later date. With the multifunctional armchairs, a table module can connect two armchairs; this module can also be ordered later.
How does the Roro become a daybed?
Lower the armrests to the side and, according to Brühl, the two-seat Roro becomes a daybed. You can then set the backrests to any position that suits you. The lowered armrests are meant to lengthen the lying surface, not to be sat on.
What should you do about a stain on the Roro’s leather cover?
Act quickly: dab up liquid with an absorbent, light-coloured cloth without rubbing. Then go over it with a slightly damp cloth and let the leather air-dry, never with a hairdryer or on a radiator. For stubborn stains, a specialist leather care company can help.
What can you do if a fitting on the Roro weakens?
Brühl can replace mechanical fittings that have weakened, and the company has over 30 years of experience with them. After that, the conversion works as usual again. The upholstery can also be renewed, while the frame is kept.
Can you change the Roro’s cover, for example from leather to fabric?
Yes. You can order replacement covers through specialist retailers or Brühl’s customer service, and for models with removable covers also in a different material. Where a cover consists of several parts, individual parts can be replaced as long as the fabric or leather is still available.
Can the cushions or upholstery of the Roro be replaced?
Yes. According to Brühl, loose seat cushions and similar parts can be ordered individually. Cushion fillings are available as spare parts, and the upholstery of every Brühl model can be replaced while the frame stays.
Can I see the piece before buying?
Yes – the piece is at Warehouse Hamburg. Viewing by appointment, or alternatively by video call.
The family firm Brühl has made upholstered furniture in Bad Steben, Upper Franconia, since 1948. Many of its sofas adjust or transform, and numerous designs are by Roland Meyer-Brühl: on the Roro (since 1998) the arms and back adjust continuously, while on the Moule (since 2003) two swivel seats convert into loungers or a sleeping surface in a few movements. Frames are made from solid beech, and each complete cover is sewn by one person. Kati Meyer-Brühl has been creative director since 2008.
