Brühl Roro Medium – sofa with swivel seats

At Brühl, Roro is a whole family: sofas, corner sofas, multifunctional armchairs, longchairs and recliners can be combined in many ways. The family was designed by Roland Meyer-Brühl, and the Roro has been built since 1998. All pieces follow the same principle: seats that swivel and swing forward as far as a lying position, and infinitely adjustable armrests and backrests. Brühl calls the result a milestone of modern, purist design. To make moving easier, two castors at the back of the base are available for all Roro models.

This grey-covered Roro Medium comes with castors on its base. They make the two-seater easier to move, for example for cleaning or rearranging. As a floor model, it was never used in a home; it was only on display. The calm grey fabric suits both modern and classic interiors. The sofa is well suited to rooms that serve as both a living room and a guest room.

Seating comfort and space

Its width of 184 cm corresponds to the classic two-seater in Brühl’s dimension sheet, in other words the more firmly upholstered version. At 42 cm, the seat height is within the usual range. The sofa needs just over 1.8 m of wall space and 90 cm of depth. In the lying position, it extends up to two metres into the room, and lowered armrests make it 50 cm wider. Keep around 60 to 80 cm clear in front of it.

Functions and additions

As is usual at Brühl, the two castors sit at the back of the base, so the sofa is easy to move. You adjust the swivel seats by hand: swivel, swing forward, and set the armrests and backrests to any position. Replacement castors and glides are available from Brühl, as are feet. Occasional tables can be fitted later, and a footstool and multifunctional armchairs complete the range.

Caring for the fabric cover

For everyday care, vacuuming the fabric regularly is enough. Treat stains straight away: dab them with a light-coloured, damp cloth without rubbing. For a thorough clean, remove the cover, which is attached to the body of the sofa with hook-and-loop tape. Cover the hooks with loop tape first. Depending on the fabric, this is followed by dry cleaning or a gentle wash at up to 30 °C.

Why a Brühl Roro Medium floor model?

A floor model like this Roro Medium has only ever been on display. Brühl has been manufacturing in Bad Steben since 1948, and no conversion mechanism leaves the workshop untested. The covers are removable and renewable, and fittings that weaken can be replaced. This piece has been inspected in eight stations.
