Brühl Moule Small – a transforming sofa in a compact size

A small sofa on which you can still read, lean back and put your feet up – that is what the Moule Small stands for. Brühl conceived it for rooms where space is limited. Like all Moule sofas, it works with swivel seats. A seat is swivelled 90 degrees, the armrest comes to the front and, when lowered, serves as a footrest. The backrest and headrest can then be adjusted. The Moule was designed by Roland Meyer-Brühl, and Brühl has been making it since 2003.

Moule Small two-seater in red fabric – floor model

This two-seater is a Moule Small with a fabric cover in red. It was on display in a showroom and was never used in a home. The red adds a clear accent of colour, especially against light walls or next to wood. Thanks to its compact format, the sofa suits city flats, studies or a guest room with no space for a large piece of furniture. Two people can sit side by side here without the sofa dominating the room. It is one of a kind.

Seating comfort and space

Brühl upholsters its sofas on sinuous springs hooked into the frame, with layers of high-density foam and a soft layer of wadding. As a result, the seat keeps its shape while the surface feels soft. The seat height of 42 cm is at the lower end of the usual range; for the current Moule Small, Brühl gives 42 to 44 cm. The two-seater needs 1.64 m of width and 1.05 m of depth. For the adjusted positions, the current dimension sheet for the Moule Small lists up to 60 cm more width and 44 cm more depth.

Elements and additions

The Moule series is designed to be combined. The Moule Small range includes sofas, corner sofas and armchairs, plus footstools; the Small, Medium, Large and Extra Small versions can be combined with one another. Brühl still offers the Moule. The manufacturer supplies replacement covers and spare parts such as feet, castors or glides through specialist retailers.

Caring for the fabric cover

Strong colours like this red fade faster in direct sunlight; a spot away from the window protects the fabric. Vacuum off dust with the upholstery nozzle, and dab stains with a damp cloth without rubbing. The cover is removable. Washable Brühl fabrics can go on a gentle cycle at up to 30 degrees; all others should be dry-cleaned.

Why a Brühl Moule Small floor model?

The Moule has been in the range since 2003 and is built for long use: the covers are removable and renewable, and the mechanisms can be replaced. Brühl, a family business from Bad Steben, has been designing and making furniture there since 1948. As a floor model, this sofa has never been through everyday life in a home. This piece has been inspected in eight stations.
