About the model
Minotti Kline – modular sofa by Rodolfo Dordoni
The Kline is a sofa by Rodolfo Dordoni for Minotti. It has a modular structure: sofa elements and a chaise longue are put together to form a corner sofa or a larger seating landscape, completed by a footstool. Dordoni shaped Minotti’s collections as art director from 1998 to 2023. The Hamilton sofa system and the Mills chair also date from this period. Minotti made the Kline with a fabric or leather cover. According to Minotti, its furniture is made using modern technology and finished by hand.
Kline corner sofa in brown leather with sofa element and footstool
This Kline is a corner sofa with a brown leather cover; seen from the front, the corner is on the left. It comes with an additional sofa element and a footstool. Together they form a large seating landscape for four people, suitable for a spacious living room. The footstool serves as a footrest or an extra seat. The brown leather looks warm and goes well with wood, natural stone and light walls.
Seating comfort and space
The Kline is a low sofa: with a height of 66 cm, the back line stays low. The seat height of 42 cm is standard. The corner element alone measures around 2.47 × 1.31 m. Added to this are the sofa element, almost two metres long, and the square footstool. Depending on the arrangement, you will therefore need a large living area. Allow 60 to 80 cm of walking space around the group.
Elements and additions
The Kline is modular: sofa elements, a chaise longue and a footstool can be combined to create corner sofas and seating landscapes. This piece includes a corner element, a sofa element and a footstool. You can place the footstool wherever you like, for example in front of the corner element or as a seat at the edge of the group. The Kline is no longer listed in Minotti’s current range.
Caring for the leather cover
Remove dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth or the brush nozzle of your vacuum cleaner. Dab stains straight away with a slightly damp cloth, without rubbing. Once or twice a year, a suitable care product keeps the leather supple. Do not place the sofa in direct sunlight or close to a radiator, as the leather will dry out.
Why buy a pre-owned Minotti Kline?
Minotti was founded in 1948 by Alberto Minotti and is based in Meda in the Brianza region. Since 2022, the brand has been listed in the Italian register of historic brands. Leather is a hard-wearing cover material that becomes softer over time and develops its own patina. With a corner element, sofa element and footstool, this Kline is already a complete seating landscape. This piece has been inspected in eight stations.
Frequently asked questions
How is the Minotti Kline constructed?
The Kline consists of individual elements that are placed side by side. These included straight sofa elements, a chaise longue and a footstool. Depending on the room, they can form corner sofas or larger seating landscapes.
What is the footstool for on the Kline?
In front of the corner element, the footstool serves as a footrest; at the edge of the group, as an extra seat. With a tray on top, it becomes a place for drinks or books. As it stands on its own, you can move it at any time.
How do you arrange the Kline in a room?
The corner element, with its corner on the left, sets the basic shape. You can attach the sofa element or place it opposite, and position the footstool in front or alongside. This way, the group adapts to living rooms of different sizes.
What should you watch out for with the Kline’s leather in everyday use?
Leather reacts to light, heat and friction. Do not place the Kline right by a window or a radiator. Rivets and belt buckles can scratch the surface. Test care products on an inconspicuous spot first.
Is the Kline still in Minotti’s range?
The Kline is no longer listed on Minotti’s website. However, with its corner element, sofa element and footstool, this piece already comes as a complete seating landscape that can be arranged in different ways.
Which company does the Kline come from?
The Kline comes from Minotti in Meda in the Brianza region. The family business was founded in 1948 by Alberto Minotti and is now run by the third generation. Rodolfo Dordoni shaped the collections as art director from 1998 to 2023.
Can I see the sofa before buying?
Yes – the sofa is at Warehouse Cologne. Viewing by appointment, or alternatively by video call.
Minotti was founded in 1948 by Alberto Minotti in Meda, in the Brianza area, initially as a small workshop; from the 1960s the business grew larger and more industrial. In 1991 his sons Renato and Roberto Minotti took over the family company. From 1998 until his death in 2023, the Milan architect Rodolfo Dordoni was art director and shaped the collections, for example with the Hamilton seating system of 2004 and its low base. The furniture is made with modern technology and finished by hand.
