About the model

Minotti Jagger – sofa and armchair by Rodolfo Dordoni

The Jagger is a design by Rodolfo Dordoni for Minotti. Dordoni shaped the company’s collections as art director from 1998 to 2023. The Hamilton sofa system from 2004 and the Mills chair from 2011 also date from this period. The Jagger was available as an armchair and as a sofa, both in the same design language. By its own account, Minotti combines craftsmanship with industrial precision. The family business was founded in 1948 in Meda in the Brianza region.

Jagger armchair in grey fabric

This Jagger is an armchair with a grey fabric cover. It works as a reading chair, as an addition to a sofa or as a single seat by the window. Together with a Jagger sofa, it forms a seating group from the same line. The understated grey goes with both light and dark floors and with wood, leather or metal. Even next to a sofa from another manufacturer, the armchair adds a calm accent.

Seating comfort and space

The Jagger is a deep, low armchair. With a seat height of 40 cm, you sit slightly lower than on standard seating at 42 to 45 cm, relaxed rather than upright. The overall depth of 1.15 m leaves plenty of room to lean back. The armchair needs a floor space of around 0.85 × 1.15 m. Leave around 60 cm of legroom in front of it, and correspondingly more with a footstool.

Elements and additions

The Jagger was available as an armchair and as a sofa; together, they form a seating group from the same line. The model is no longer listed in Minotti’s current range. To complete a seating group, you can therefore add a pre-owned Jagger sofa or pieces from other lines. A footstool at seat height in front of the armchair works well as a footrest.

Caring for the fabric cover

Vacuum the grey fabric cover regularly with a soft upholstery nozzle. Soak up fresh stains with an absorbent cloth, then dab them with a slightly damp cloth, without rubbing. Test any cleaning product on an inconspicuous spot first. Prolonged direct sunlight can fade fabric colours. Plump up the cushions now and then so that they keep their shape.

Why buy a pre-owned Minotti Jagger?

Minotti was founded in Meda in 1948 by Alberto Minotti and is now family-owned in its third generation. In 2022, the brand was entered in the Italian register of historic brands. A pre-owned Jagger is a piece of seating from this tradition, designed by the company’s long-standing art director. As Minotti no longer lists the model, a pre-owned piece is the way to own this design. This piece has been inspected in eight stations.

Frequently asked questions

What is it like to sit in the Minotti Jagger?

The Jagger armchair is cut deep and low, so you sit leaning back rather than upright. That makes it good for reading and relaxing. If you prefer to sit more upright, put a firm cushion behind your back.

Was the Jagger available as a sofa and as an armchair?

Yes. The Jagger was available as a sofa and as an armchair. Together they form a seating group in the same design language, but the armchair also works on its own as a reading chair in the living room or bedroom.

Why add a footstool to the Jagger armchair?

A footstool in front of the armchair serves as a footrest. This turns the deep reading chair into a place to stretch out. Choose a footstool that is about as high as the seat, so that your legs lie straight.

How do you remove stains from the Jagger’s fabric?

Soak up liquid immediately with an absorbent cloth. Then dab the stain from the outside in with a slightly damp cloth, without rubbing. For stubborn stains, professional upholstery cleaning helps.

Is the Jagger still in Minotti’s range?

Today, the Jagger is no longer listed on Minotti’s website. If you want to put together a seating group, combine the Jagger armchair and sofa or add pieces from other lines in calm tones.

Which company does the Jagger come from?

The Jagger comes from Minotti in Meda in the Brianza region, founded in 1948 by Alberto Minotti. Since 2022, Minotti has been listed in Italy’s special register of historic brands. The register recognises brands that have been registered for at least fifty years and are rooted in their region.

Can I see the piece before buying?

About the brand

All Minotti in stock

Minotti was founded in 1948 by Alberto Minotti in Meda, in the Brianza area, initially as a small workshop; from the 1960s the business grew larger and more industrial. In 1991 his sons Renato and Roberto Minotti took over the family company. From 1998 until his death in 2023, the Milan architect Rodolfo Dordoni was art director and shaped the collections, for example with the Hamilton seating system of 2004 and its low base. The furniture is made with modern technology and finished by hand.
