Koinor Phoenix – multifunctional leather sofa

Phoenix is a multifunctional sofa from Koinor that can be placed freestanding in the room. In the current version, handcrafted cold-cure foam cushions on a zigzag spring base rest on a platform of veneered wild oak. The platform is carried by blade-shaped aluminium skids with a bronze finish. The basic function includes headrests and armrests that fold down. The extended function adds seats that slide and swivel and have a swivel stop. There are no visible levers.

This Phoenix is a two-seater upholstered in brown leather. Brown leather looks warm, goes with wood and light walls and develops a patina over time. With its generous width, the sofa gives two people plenty of room to sit and lean back. It suits a living room, a TV corner or a study. It was made in Germany.

Seating comfort and space

In the current version, cold-cure foam on a zigzag spring base creates a resilient, shape-retaining seat: you do not sink in deeply but are supported evenly. With a seat height of 45 cm, the sofa is at the upper end of the usual range. It needs around 2.4 m along the wall and just under 0.9 m in depth. Leave 60 to 80 cm of walking space in front of it. As Phoenix is designed to be freestanding, it can also stand in the middle of the room.

Elements and additions

Phoenix comes with the basic function or the extended function, both operated by hand. You simply fold the headrests and armrests down. With the extended function, you pull the seats apart and swivel them through 90 degrees, according to specialist retailers. A swivel stop holds them in position. Which functions a sofa has depends on its version. Koinor still makes Phoenix, including as a corner sofa.

Caring for the leather cover

Remove dust with a soft, dry cloth and dab stains immediately with a damp cloth. The care instructions for the current version recommend treating the leather with a leather care product twice a year. Harsh household cleaners are off limits. A wooden platform, as found on the current version, is treated with wood care oil twice a year. Keep the sofa away from radiators and direct sunlight so that the leather does not dry out.
