About the model

Bolia Cosy – modular sofa on an oak base

Glismand & Rüdiger designed the Cosy for Bolia as a modular sofa that combines a taut form with soft, inviting upholstery. Its crafted details include a base of solid oiled oak and an upholstered frame with piping along the edges. Slender legs, supported by a steel frame, make the sofa look light while keeping it sturdy. The seat base contains steel zigzag springs. Bolia has the Cosy made by hand in Europe.

Cosy corner sofa in blue fabric

This Cosy is a corner sofa with a blue fabric cover in the shade London Blue. Seen from the front, the corner is on the left. It consists of three parts and seats four people. The combination of a taut form and soft upholstery makes it a sofa for family and guests. The oak base and the piping add calm accents to the strong blue. The blue looks rich without being loud.

Seating comfort and space

The seat cushions have a core of cold-cure foam and polyurethane foam, wrapped in a mix of foam flakes and duck feathers. Underneath, steel zigzag springs provide suspension. The form looks taut, while the cushions, according to Bolia, are soft and inviting. With a seat height of 43 cm, the sofa is in the usual range. It takes up around 3.4 m against the wall, and the corner extends 1.55 m into the room.

Elements and additions

The Cosy has no adjustable functions; it is designed entirely around modules. The series includes back elements with and without armrests, combination corners, long corners, chaise longues, seat modules with an armrest and a footstool. The modules are joined with sturdy connectors. Bolia still offers the series, so an existing Cosy can be extended later.

Caring for the fabric cover

Vacuum the cover regularly with an upholstery nozzle and dab stains with a damp, lint-free cloth, without rubbing. Bolia advises not to keep upholstery fabrics in direct sunlight for long periods, as some colours will otherwise fade faster. Do not place the sofa right next to a radiator either, as direct heat can discolour the fabric. Wipe the oak base only with a barely damp cloth.

Why buy a pre-owned Bolia Cosy?

Bolia comes from Aarhus, was founded in 2000 and has its sofas made to order in Europe, the Cosy by hand. The model is worth buying pre-owned because the solid wood base and steel frame are built for stability and the modular construction allows additions later on. This piece has been inspected in eight stations.
