About the model
Bolia Scandinavia – large corner sofa with footstool
According to Bolia, the Scandinavia is a much-loved classic. It was designed by the Danish duo Glismand & Rüdiger. Beneath the calm shape are a solid wood frame, generously padded armrests and reversible cold foam seat cushions. A slightly raised edge keeps the cushions on the seat. The legs are available in several materials and two heights.

This Scandinavia is a large corner sofa with a matching footstool. The fabric cover is in grey and beige, and the corner is on the right, seen from the front. The footstool serves as a footrest or an extra seat and can be placed wherever you like. Together, they form a seating landscape for family and guests. The set suits large living rooms and open-plan living areas where the sofa can also stand freely in the room.
Seating comfort and space
The cold foam seat cushions hold their shape and give good support. Scandinavia sofas have a seat depth of 58 cm, and this piece has a seat height of 42 cm, which is within the usual range. The corner sofa needs around 3.1 m along one wall and just under 2.5 m along the other. Also allow space for the footstool and around 60 to 80 cm of walking space in front of the sofa.
Elements and additions
The series includes poufs in four sizes, some with storage space. These are joined by a footstool and an armchair. As the series is still in Bolia's range, further pieces can be added.
Caring for the fabric cover
The fabric cover is fixed in place and is cared for directly on the sofa. For everyday care, vacuum the sofa on a low setting with the upholstery nozzle. Dab stains with a damp, lint-free cloth rather than rubbing. Bolia recommends treating fabrics with a protective spray once or twice a year.
Why buy a pre-owned Bolia Scandinavia?
Bolia, founded in Aarhus in 2000, makes every sofa to order in Europe. Many parts of the Scandinavia can be replaced: legs and, according to Bolia, upholstery and cushion fillings too. This keeps a pre-owned corner sofa usable for a long time. It can be complemented with poufs or an armchair from the same series. This piece has been inspected in eight stations.
Frequently asked questions
What does a pouf add to the Scandinavia?
A pouf can be a footrest, an extra seat or a place to put things down in front of the sofa. Bolia offers poufs from 70 × 70 to 100 × 100 cm, some with storage space inside. They are freestanding and can be moved around as needed.
Is the Scandinavia's cover removable?
Yes, on fabric versions. Bolia built the Scandinavia with a fully removable fabric cover so that you can clean or replace it. Leather versions, by contrast, have a fixed cover, and their cushions are not reversible.
Which legs are available for the Scandinavia?
The legs come in different materials, such as oiled oak, oiled walnut or stainless steel, and in two heights. Bolia also sells oak legs of 13 and 15 cm separately. Changing the legs alters the look without replacing the whole sofa.
Can you buy replacement covers and legs for the Scandinavia?
Bolia offers replacement covers for the sofas, corner sofas, sofa beds and poufs in the series. The legs are also available separately, in heights of 13 and 15 cm. For other parts such as upholstery or cushion fillings, Bolia refers you to its customer service.
Why don't the Scandinavia's seat cushions slide forward?
There is a slightly raised edge under the seat cushions, plus a special lining. Together, they stop the cushions from slipping. As a result, you need to straighten them less often, even when lots of people are sitting on the sofa.
How do you care for the Scandinavia's cushions?
Vacuum the cushions and sofa regularly on low suction with the upholstery attachment, including under the cushions. Turn and swap the seat and back cushions from time to time so that they wear evenly. Also check every few months that the legs are secure.

Yes – the sofa is at Warehouse Hamburg. Viewing by appointment, or alternatively by video call.

The Scandinavia and the Cosy are by the Danish duo Glismand & Rüdiger, while the modular Noora, with modules in two depths, comes from the in-house design team. The sofas are built by hand in Europe, most of them made to order with a choice of cover, colour and size.
