Soft, distinctly rounded upholstery on a straight-lined metal frame: this is the contrast Norbert Beck created with the Plura for Rolf Benz. Decorative seams frame the upholstery, and there was a choice of three seat heights. Behind the calm shape lies a great deal of functionality. The seat has a metal inner frame with a swivel function and steel sinuous spring suspension, while the back has a metal inner frame with an adjustment mechanism. Rolf Benz launched the range in 2011 and calls it a sofa with many faces.

Plura 380 armchair in brown leather

This armchair from the Plura 380 series is upholstered in brown leather. As a single seat, it suits a reading corner, sits well opposite a sofa or works in a study. Combined with sofas from the Plura range, it forms a seating group with the same frame and design language. Brown leather goes well with wood, natural tones and light walls. It is one of a kind.

Seating comfort and space

With a seat height of 41 cm, you sit slightly below the usual height, which is comfortable for reading and conversation. In the Plura range, the seats rest on steel sinuous spring suspension, and the down-like cushions give softly. The armchair takes up just 70 by 85 cm, so it also fits next to a shelf, by a window or in a corner. Leave around 60 cm clear in front of it for getting up.

Elements and additions

In the Plura range, armchairs came as add-on armchairs and end armchairs, some with a tray in black leather. They combine with the stand-alone sofa, add-on and corner elements or a longchair. The series' functions – swivel seat, fold-down side section, adjustable back – depended on the element in question. Rolf Benz offers a reupholstery service for its upholstered furniture through specialist retailers.

Caring for the leather cover

For the leather armchair, a soft, slightly damp cloth is usually all you need to remove dust. Rolf Benz recommends treating the leather at least every six months with a care product suited to the type of leather. Dab up liquids immediately and do not rub. Keeping it away from radiators and direct sunlight protects it from drying out.
