Prime Time was designed for Walter Knoll by the design studio EOOS, and its guiding idea is ‘understatement with lasting value’. The generous cushions are meant to look light and opulent at the same time. Support comes from a narrow armrest and backrest behind the soft seat cushions. Fine tucks in the upholstery draw the eye to the details. It is built on a steel frame with sinuous springs and stands on aluminium skids. Walter Knoll offers Prime Time as a standalone sofa, as an add-on combination and as a corner solution.

Prime Time corner sofa in grey leather – floor model

This Prime Time is a corner sofa with a grey leather cover; seen from the front, the corner is on the right. Like all corner sofas in the series, it is made up of two elements. It seats four people. The sofa was on display in a showroom and was never used in a home. The calm grey can be combined with wood, stone and strong colours. The sofa suits a living room where family and guests like to sit together for a long time.

Seating comfort and space

The seat cushions, made of cold foam in sandwich construction topped with wadding, are soft and attached with a zip. Beneath them is a steel frame with sinuous springs. Walter Knoll offers two seat heights; this piece has a seat height of 42 cm, which is within the usual range. On Prime Time the back cushions are loose. The sofa needs around 2.4 m of wall space and 2.1 m of depth on the corner side. Leave 60 to 80 cm of walking space in front of it.

Elements and additions

Prime Time is available as a standalone sofa in three widths, as an add-on combination and as a corner. For corners, Walter Knoll also offers a chaise longue with a swivel function that can be swung into place in two simple moves. There is also a matching footstool, plus back and comfort cushions in several sizes. According to the manufacturer, the range is still available.

Caring for the leather cover

Vacuum up crumbs with the upholstery nozzle on a low setting and dust the leather regularly with a soft cloth. Blot grease stains immediately with an absorbent cloth, without rubbing. Walter Knoll advises cleaning and caring for leather with a leather care product at least once a year. Protect it from strong sunlight and dry air from heating. Plump up the loose back cushions regularly.

Why a Walter Knoll Prime Time floor model?

Walter Knoll traces its history back to 1865 and today manufactures in Mötzingen, near its headquarters in Herrenberg. According to the manufacturer, every leather hide is inspected several times during production. A floor model has only been on display and has never been used in a home. You get a model from the current range whose leather only develops its patina once it is with you. This piece has been inspected in eight stations.
