Citterio was born in Meda in 1950 and received the Compasso d'Oro in 1987 and 1994. He has designed numerous sofas for the manufacturer, including the Charles, Michel and Ray. The Solo came in several versions: as a two-seater, as a larger straight sofa and as a corner sofa made up of several elements. There was also a matching footstool.
